The problem with gangs in America is that our society is not providing adequate life skills training and guidance to the young people and young adults in the areas in which gangs flourish. Gangs by nature are not bad. Human beings have been gathering in groups with common goals and ideas, also known as tribes, since the dawn of man. Human beings are genetically built for community and unity among other human being and will seek out this communion wherever it presents itself, especially in environments hostile environments where to be alone and not aligned with others similarly situated such as inner cities, ghettos, and among lower income individuals. We understand that gangs serve a purpose within society. Outsiders may not understand or agree with the activities, mindset, or violence usually associated with gang, but unless you've actually live within these environments as a young person or one who is vulnerable and in need of friendship, family and protection, There is no clear way for you to fully understand what it's like for the people involving themselves in the gang life.
But do gangs serve any other purpose than to terrorize the community and to bring crime, fear, anger, hatred, violence, prostitution, and other negative aspects to the communities in which they reside and flourish? When you consider the amount of capital spent on managing, arresting, incarcerating, and then dealing with recidivism; starting the whole process all over again, you may come away with the impression that the answer is no, gangs serve no other purpose than as stated above. This is not true. Gangs consist of individuals in these individuals gravitate toward the From any of the reasons stated above and others on a personal level. Still these are human beings who just want along the something and to be safe from harm so that they may live their lives to whatever degree they can within their living environment. The way to modify the purpose and function of the within American society, or any society, is to provide the individuals seeking to become involved in games with alternatives. Human beings have basic needs and will gravitate toward the easiest and most effective method and means of meeting them. Gangs are just one obvious choice when living within certain hostile environments.
Our organization seeks to provide a variety of avenues and opportunities for individuals in these types of situations. We do not seem conflict with nor will fall gangs. They are an integral part of the human ecosystem and believe it or not serve a purpose. But we know that if given a variety of opportunities that would not lead to the activities, mindset, or violence usually associated with gang, human beings will gravitate toward the easiest and most equitable Avenue toward their mutual self-interests. This means if given the choice between everything involving gang life or life where they can live free, not the threatened by arrest, imprisonment, or death, people will choose the alternative. The problem is that there are no alternatives being offered.
